The line "take me out" could be refrencing the Archduke Ferdinand begging the assassins to kill him, as he doesn't want to live without his beloved wife. The lyrics of the song could also be refrencing the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand, where his wife was murdered right before him. In the chorus of the song, the narrator says the line »I say, don't you know?«, which is a vague way of saying: ✽on't you know how I feel about you?«, to which to which the girl responds that she doesn't know what he is talking about. But in the end, it is up to the girl to »pull the trigger of the gun«, and make or break the heart of the narrator of the song. The narrator uses the metaphore of a crosshair in the second line of the song, in which he refrences himself as the crosshair and the girl he is interested in as the target. The lyrics of the song tell a story of the narrator checking out a girl at a party. The group later moved to Sweden with producer Tore Johansson to record their debut record in late 2003 and early 2004. The band wanted to release their first EP by themselves, but was later released by Domino Records in 2003 under the name Darts of Pleasure in 2003. The band got signed by the independent label Domino Records. Kapranos later met guitarist Nick McCarthy, whom studied jazz bass in Germany and returned back to Scotland in 2001. The same year, Kapranos gave a bass guitar (which was given to him by Mick Cooke of another Scottish band Belle and Sebastian) to his friend Bob Hardy, and taught him how to play bass. Singer Alex Kapranos met drummer Paul Thomson at a party, and later teamed up to write songs together. ![]() The members of the band were in several different bands before the formation of the group. I'm having a party on a boat this year and I don't want anyone to OD and fall into the canal. We decide to go away on holiday and get caught up in a cursed village overrun with lesbian vampires. I play the best friend of a guy who's just lost his job and I've just lost my girlfriend. You've made a film about lesbian vampires right? ![]() "Matthew Horne Pushing Musical Boundaries." Hey are you all right? I think they should rename that night Axe-Wound. That sounds like GASH! That's such a horrible word. That sounds like a good name for a club night. If I'm the one sniffing the poppers, you should finger my arse hole. I'd say have a sniff on these poppers and then finger my arse hole. Say I come to your club night and I'm really upset, my boyfriend's just dumped me, I just need to get up, what would you say? So now that we're friends now, Matt, could you hook me up with some gear at your night? I mean, refer me to someone else even. I know more about methylenedioxy-N-methylamphetamine. You know what fucks up your teeth? Cocaine. That's just because I have loads of gaps in my teeth. Your mouth is a lot happier than your eyes. What death stare? I'm just holding a straight expression. That's the white stuff, isn't it? I've seen that about, people put it up their nose, don't they? I've seen people sniffing poppers. I'm guessing that in your line of work now that you're a big time music promoter, cocaine may be your drug of choice? Theoretically speaking. That makes it sound like I'm not really excited I am. There will probably be a lot of people on drugs at your club night. Really? Never even tried a li'l bit of something? Start a musical outfit like Mighty Boosh. I would really like to do an hour long set of click house. If you've got a sense of humour that is, which it looks you don't. My Djing will be the only humorous side of things. Is there going to be a comedy element? I found the line-up quite funny. And like, music is put out for an audience, so if I'm part of the audience, it's up to me to decide what's good and what's bad. But I would argue that I know as much as anybody else really if that gives me enough justification to do it.īecause… I-I'm the audience. VICE: Hello Matthew Horne, do you really think you're qualified to run a club night? ![]()
